    • HS Diploma or GED
    • Favorable results on criminal background check
    • Attend mandatory orientation and in-processing
    • Be flexible to work same-day assignments
    • Work at least ten full days per school year

    If you do not possess a valid teaching certificate or GA PSC certificate of eligibility, you must complete the STEDI.org SubSkills substitute teacher training.

    Required training:
    ALL non-certified substitute teacher applicants must complete the SubSkills training.  You must successfully complete this training program with a minimum 85% composite score prior to applying to be a substitute teacher.

    Cost of training:
    Online (Basic Option A):  The fee for SubSkills online training is $39.95.  The SubSkills online course includes:

    • 8-10 hours of video training in classroom management, teaching strategies, professionalism, special education, and legal issues.
    • Fill-in activities to download (.pdf) and print
    • SubAssessment (online test), which you have up to four tries to get your best score.
    • A SubDiploma, after you complete the SubAssessment. You must achieve a minimum score of 85%.

    Handbook (Basic Option B):  The fee for SubSkills handbook training is $39.95.  The SubSkills handbook course includes:

    • Substitute Teacher Handbook (9th) covering classroom management, teaching strategies, professionalism, special education, and legal issues.
    • Fill-in activities to download (.pdf) and print
    • SubAssessment (online test), which you have up to four tries to get your best score.
    • A SubDiploma, after you complete the SubAssessment. You must achieve a minimum score of 85%.

    Register for the training:
    Register for the online or handbook substitute teacher training at STEDI.org.  When registering for the training, be sure to select Jasper County Charter System as the district for which you are applying.

    Apply for Substitute Teacher position:
    After successfully passing the SubAssessment, download and save the SubDiploma.  Please submit your complete application with your SubDiploma, evidence of your highest level of education, and completed GCIC Consent Form.  Upon approval of your application, you will receive an invitation to attend substitute teacher orientation and payroll in-processing.  To submit an online application, click here.


    You must submit a complete application by the following cutoff dates for consideration in the next round of hiring.  We do not consider incomplete applications.
