Mrs. Bowden

I am excited to begin 2020-2021 school year.  This is is the beginning of my 30th year in teaching and my 26th year in Jasper County.  Throughout my tenure in Jasper County, I have worked in many different roles.  I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and I am currently an 8th grade Math teacher serving students in a face to face classroom and a distance learning classroom.

I have earned a Master's Degree, Bachelor's degree and numberous endorsements to add to my teaching certificate.  I love to learn new things and believe that one should learn something new each day in order to be productive.

When I'm not teaching school, I enjoy baking, camping, and spending time with family.  Three golden retrievers demand my time and give me a true understanding to the expression "the dog ate my homework."  My dogs fill the void left when my children became independent.

I believe parents want the teachers who care and will help students as they transition from being a child to a young adult. I teach because I care about the future and I want the next generation to be able to make wise decisions and solve problems using the resources available.

I believe all students are capable of learning and I recognize all students do not learn the same way or on the same time table. Students learn best when faced with a struggle.  In Middle School, students frequently have a fear of failing, my desire is to teach students to change their mindset and then their future.   If students would think of the word fail as "First Attempt in Learning" then their world becomes full of endless possibilities.
