Mr. Buddy Cain
Principal Buddy Cain is a three time Monticello resident. He was born here when his father Lyndol Cain was a coach and science teacher, and his mother Trudy Cain was a Home Economics teacher. After growing up in Watkinsville, Georgia and graduating from Oconee County High School and the University of Georgia, “Coach Cain” was then hired by JCHS principal Mr. Jimmy Jordan in 1993 to coach and teach math and science. During that time, Buddy Cain met and married Betsy Lynch Cain and then taught and coached for 20 plus years with stints in Oconee County, Jefferson City School and AD / Head Football Coach in Oglethorpe County. In 2010 Monticello called again and “Coach Cain” returned and moved into an administrative role as an assistant principal and then as Principal of JCHS in 2017.
Mr. Cain’s family is entrenched in Monticello as his wife Betsy is a graduate of Jasper County and works at Jasper County Pre-School as a special needs teacher. Their son Chad (22) is a 2016 graduate of JCHS and a 2020 graduate of the University of Georgia and currently in grad school. Their middle son Jeff (20) is a 2018 graduate of JCHS and a junior at UGA, while their youngest Matt (18) is a 2020 graduate of JCHS and a freshman at UGA with his brothers.
