Throughout her career, she has remained focused on improving student achievement, supporting educators, developing strong leaders, and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.

Ms. Blackburn has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and chief academic officer. Before joining Jasper County, she served as Chief of Learning and Leadership for Newton County Schools, where she led the areas of school leadership, teaching and learning, student services, and athletics. In that role, she worked closely with schools to strengthen instruction, support leaders, expand opportunities for students, and improve academic outcomes.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Blackburn served as Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership for Henry County Schools. She also spent 11 years as principal of Rock Spring Elementary School. She values listening to others, learning from the community, and working together to build on the strengths already present throughout Jasper County.

Outside of work, Ms. Blackburn’s greatest joy is her family. She is the proud mother of two adult children and two bonus adult children and loves spending time with her two grandsons. Her family is a constant reminder of why it is so important for every child to feel valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Ms. Blackburn is honored to serve the Jasper County community and looks forward to working alongside staff, families, students, and community partners to provide meaningful and innovative learning experiences. Her goal is to help create supportive schools where students are inspired to achieve individual success and are prepared for life beyond the classroom.
